Legal Metrology License Procedure and Documentation

All Legal Metrology licenses must be renewed in compliance with the terms of the Delhi a legal Metrology (The enforcement) Rules, 2011 and the Act on Legal Metrology 2009. The license renewal application must be submitted using the approved pro forma. The license renewal must be finished by December 31st of each calendar year at the latest.

Applications for license renewals must be submitted to the appropriate district offices. The concerned LMO will handle the application in the same way as if it were a new Legal Metrology License.

The following supporting documentation must be submitted with the license renewal application, which must be submitted on the approved form:
  1. Evidence of ongoing lawful possession.
  2. Any modifications to the company's constitution.
  3. Stock and sales statement.
  4. Everything needed for a new license, with the exception of the experience certificate, MCL, Lal Dora Certificate, and copy of the product's literature.
  5. Names and addresses are listed for both skilled and unskilled workers.
  6. Where applicable, an attested copy of the renewed M.C.L certificate will be provided.
  7. Receipt for prescribed license renewal fee.
  8. If registered, sales tax registration number.
  9. List of loan items accompanied by a certificate of verification.
  10. A copy of the company's constitution.
  11. A month-by-month breakdown of the repairs done during the year.
  12. Site plan, should it be modified.
  13. Both the Memorandum and the Articles of Association for limited and private companies.
  14. A list of employees with names and addresses, both skilled and unskilled.
  15. Receipt for prescribed license renewal fees.
  16. Any additional document needed due to Legal Metrology Department.

Who is the Appropriate Authority for Intended Use of a Legal Metrology License?


The Controller serves as the Competent Authority in providing the Legal Metrology License. The applicant may apply for this license by submitting it to the relevant district's zonal officer.
