India's trademark registration process

    1. Search for Trademarks: An inventor or trademark specialist has to search the trademark database for trademarks before starting the brand registration process. Information on identical or similar trademarks that have already been submitted with the trademark registrar can be found through a trademark search. By going to the Trademark Registrar Website, one can perform a trademark search.
    2. Filing a trademark: A request for trademark registration may be submitted to the Trademark Registrar following the completion of a trademark search. The trademark registration application must be submitted in the required format and accompanied by the trademark registration fee. Applications for trademarks may be submitted online or in any one of the 5 Trademark Registrar Offices with state-wide authority. Trademark agents, and attorneys can all file trademark applications online. The following details must be included in a trademark registration application:
      • The trademark or the logo.
      • Owner of the trademark's name and address.
      • Categorization or trademark group.
      • Trademark in use as of today.
      • The products or services' description.
    3. Assignment of Trademark Applications: Within up to two working days of the brand registration of trademark application being submitted to the trademark registrar, an application for a trademark allotment number is issued.     6. Publication of the Trademark Journal: The requested trademark will be published within the Trademark Journal following acceptance of the registration of trademark application by the Trademark Registrar.
