Furthermore, the registration number PIMS will be needed at the import point through the SEZ unit/ free trading warehousing zone or during the time when import will be taking place.
However, when the processing will be occurring within SEZ/ FTWZ to DTA when there is no processing of paper products taking place having registration under the authority when there is taking place the entry with SEZ.

What obligations are made for Paper Import Monitoring System Registration?
Importers providing coverage under PIMS shall be holding the responsibility of submitting advance information within the system meaning for importing items through logging. This is through the assistance of the IEC( Importer Exporter Code) & seeking ARN, automatic registration number. This is done through the payment of the fee for registration amounting to INR 500.

PIMS certification is not needed through the DTA, domestic territory area during the custom clearance tenure from the SEZ/ FTWZ/ EOU towards the DTA, when there is no processing which will be taking place of the paper products which have already got the registrations under PIMS during its entry into SEZ/ FTWZ or EOU.
The certification as per the PIMS will be needed during the import point via SEZ unit or FTWZ, free trading warehousing zone.
Is PIMS certification required by DTA?
PIMS certification is not needed by DTA, domestic territory area unit during the customs clearance from SEZ when there is no processing occurring of paper items & this has got registration with regard to PIMS during entry in SEZ/ FTWZ or EOU.
But under the condition that processing has not taken place in SEZ with HS- Code 8 digital level, then the importer in DTA will need to register under PIMS, when the processed products will be failing under tariff lines being covered under PIMS.
Obligatory requirements under PIMS
The import taking place under 201 tariff lines, chapter 48, ITC, 2017, schedule 1 shall need compulsory registration under PIMS
